Haute couture meets quality cuisine: during fashion week in Milan, it wasn’t just the catwalks that were on show. One of the events enriching the schedule of the most eagerly awaited week of the year was MadMood. Culinary traditions and local products, responsible eating, transforming products on the table and short supply circuits, combined with the talent of the best chefs, were the ingredients used liberally during the event. One of the key presentations on innovation in the textile industry, closely connected with the world of fashion, regarded the new challenge of eco-sustainability, with Canepa leading the way thanks to SAVEtheWATER® Kitotex®. According to Roberto Castellani, Director of Canepa Evolution, the department for research and development, “by using chitosan, the company has changed the process for producing threads and textiles in the interests of environmental sustainability and improving the quality of the products. A brand new era has begun in the way textiles are produced and our firm has undetaken studies and tests, and implemented industrial processes with leading companies in the sector”. To close, the best 30 outfits were announced, created by talented designers at the fashion schools who took their inspiration from the food of the Mediterranean diet in their choice of colours, shape and fabrics. The overall winner of the “MadMood Award” was Enrico Linassi to whom Canepa will offer an innovative fabric to create a mini capsule collection which will be available at the Mad Zone concept store, 2 Via Brera, Milan.
