Fiorio’s 70th Anniversary
The Brand of the Canepa Group Reaches an Important Milestone
Created in Milan in 1946 by the inspiration of the Fiorio family, today the brand has reached an important milestone: 70 years of success. It all began with a collection of foulards which by the 1970s were also accompanied by a range of bags, chosen by princesses as accessories to give their look that special finishing touch. From foulards to ties, noted for the elegance of their exquisite fabrics and their handmade finish, to scarves, pocket-squares, bow-ties, jackets and swimming costumes. All these products stand out thanks to their unmistakeable style, and a quality held in high esteem both in Italy and abroad, especially in Japan - a market in which Fiorio is creating and distributing exclusive collections to satisfy the needs of every customer down to the smallest detail.
A turning point for the brand came in 2007, when it became part of the Canepa Group, the historic Como-based company and a leader in the textile sector specialising in high-end products. This change gave the brand renewed vigour: Fiorio kept its traditional values but also evolved with new product and marketing ideas. Creativity and high-quality manufacturing combines with a great respect for the environment achieved through innovation: sustainability is a key issue for the company showing that it is possible to move forwards while preserving the traditions of the past. And the prospects for the future go beyond national borders. This is highlighted by its historic links with Pitti Immagine, the leading international platform for collections of clothing and accessories, and for launching new projects in the fashion sector. Every season, the brand showcases its new products to an increasingly beguiled audience. And it was at Pitti Immagine where they presented the first collection of scarves produced using the patented environmentally-friendly SAVEtheWATER® system. This demonstrated the evolution of the brand, moving towards greater environmental sustainability – a practical commitment towards protecting the environment which applies both to the production of scarves as well as ties. The patented SAVEtheWATER® system helps to save a significant amount of water and energy, as well as reducing the quantity of harmful substances. By using a food-based substance obtained from chitin, contained in the exoskeleton of crustaceans, the consumption of water and energy is reduced by 90% compared to traditional processes. The quantity of detergents, bleaches and chemical agents is also dramatically reduced.
The company is constantly investing in innovating the industrial process to create an increasingly sustainable and transparent supply chain, improving the performance of products while ensuring that they remain of the highest quality. Therefore, the 70th anniversary marks the start of a new ambitious objective. Fiorio is proud of the significant improvement it is making of its products, not only in the name of style itself, but also in order to place ethics at the heart of its development.
